Hey guys,
I am a NooB on this forum but I post regularly on the national one (enderstaco). I just recently got my ToyTec 3" lift in the mail and I am hoping that I can find someone one with some experiance in installing them to be able to smack me on the head when I start to put em in wrong. I have never done anything like this to a truck before and I am wanting to do most if not all of the work on my own and learn how to do it. There will be beer and pizza provided to all supervisors and I am able to travel a bit to get to one.
Also, any advice on installing of these?
Thanks in advance.
Ben

Welcome to the board.
I don't know anything about Taco front ends, but I'm sure someone who does will chime in.
I don't know if you have to remove/compress the springs in order to install spacers, but if you do I would recommend removing the whole strut assemblies, taking them to a shop with a good spring compressor, and have them compress the springs and install the spacers. Then you can put the assemblies back in your rig. The cheap ass spring compressors that the auto parts stores sell are junk and can be dangerous.
If the spacers get installed between the struts and the frame, then you're set and it's a pretty painless job. I'm sure somebody closer to you can help out.

Its a duel spacer, 2.5" in the coilover, .5" that sits on top. Also its an alcan AAL in the rear. Thanks for the suggestion!

With some spring compressors it's not too tough a task. Otherwise, you're taking the struts to a shop for assembly. AAL is also an easy install.
Have a flat surface, a good jack(stock don't count,) a set of TALL jack stands, and air tools help big time.
When are you doing this? I'm in the area and can help out. If you don't have air, I'll bring the compressor and tools; takes half the time off the job.
You can rent spring compressors for $15 a day, or buy the same set they rent for $45(click for link (http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe?T1=92810+203&UREQA=1&UREQB=2&UREQC=3&UREQD=4&FNM=00&UID=2005122219505060)) I don't know what a shop would charge you to assemble the struts; always did it myself.
I'm happy to help out, and we have some other new guys in HR that are welcome to attend and help/learn too.
Let me know,
Kyle

I probably wont have time to do the install untill after the first of the year. When I do get time, a Friday or a Sunday would be ideal. I think I will shoot for Sunday the 8th of January.

just drop a date, i can help installing them. air tools makes compressing the coils easier. and you can go to advance or autozone to rent the coil compressors for free (well a refundable deposit).

I installed mine.. Never touched a Toyota before that and found it to be pretty easy.. Mine is an 06 but I dont think it would be much different.. The only thing I would add to Swell's list is a very good bench vice and some good C-clamps... Make assembling the struts and the Leaf spring easier...

I am thinking this Sunday is going to work out nicely. Weather channel is calling for 50 degrees and sunshine all day long. I am working out a location and should have more info on where in a day or two. If anyone is able and willing to come on up I would surely appreciate it. Be sure to notate your beer and pizza of choice (unless other currency is more appropriate).

I have two different spots that may end up working out for this. Both are in Newport News. One of them in an indoor shop with air tools. If I cant get my act togather tomarrow I will have to postpone (and I really dont want to do that.) Check back tomarrow evening, I get off work around 6ish and will be posting as soon as I get home.
Thanks for the offers of help, I REALLY appreciate it!

Let us know...
If you can find just a flat spot with electricity, I can bring an air compressor and air tools. It's supposed to be nice out, so inside work isn't a big deal. You'll still need spring compressors, a jack, and jack stands.
I'll be in Newport News Sunday morning anyway for a meeting of another club(DSO (http://www.dso4x4.com/)), I just need to know what to bring and where to go.

The places I was hoping to get fell through. All that I have left is a slightly sloped driveway at a freinds house in the Denbigh area of Newport News. I got a couple of nicer places that are still up in the air but this should be workable. I will have the jack and jack stands on hand in the morning and will rent a spring compressor in the morning as well. I am pretty sure I have most/all of the other tools needed but having an extra set wouldnt hurt (or if I've forgotten something).
My cell number is 757 817 7435. Give me a call when your free and we'll get this going. Thank you again for offering your help.

Its completed. Due in no small part to Kyle. I couldnt have done it without you man!! So far the ride is a bit stiffer but still not to the tune of my stock 01 that I traded in for this one. Once again, Thank you Kyle!!
Let me know if anyone else needs help on an install or just wants to see how a lifted 05 rides!

This was the easiest lift I've ever done. It's so nice to work on a new truck. No rust to deal with!
We had NO issues at all. Even with the easiest stuff, I'm used to a couple issues fouling things up, there were none, smooth as glass!
In 4.5 hours we did a spacer/AAL lift. That's got to be a record! We did the rear in close to an hour. Awesome!
Glad we got it all done Ben, look forward to wheeling with you soon. Post up some pix when you get a chance.
To echo Ben, if other Hampton Roads guys need a wrenching hand, post up, you'll get some help.
