Any word on the Fall Colors ride this year?

If not, I say we plan one for Crozet, RC, or PAP in Oct.

After EC4RJ was such a success and well advertised. I'm not sure there will be one. It really was disappointing.

Screw it. It will be the old days than when we posted the days and ppl showed up. No sponsors, no prize, just wheeling in the woods and hanging out with friends. The old days... laid back days...

Both of these events got started through 4x4Wire.com several years ago. Hardly anybody from the East Coast that actually wheels is on that board these days. Screw 4x4Wire.

90% of the peeps at the last couple EC4RJ's and Fall Color rides have been from this board. We do just fine organizing our own events now. I'm thinking I might tackle handling EC4RJ '06 and doing something pretty cool (but that's still a ways off).

Like Randy said, Fall Colors can just be a laid back event without sponsors, prizes, etc. We have Big Dogs, Takeover, etc. for those kind of events.

I haven't officially voted in the poll that Turner set up, but my vote is for Fall Colors is for Rausch Creek, any time in Oct.

I'm down with that. But we should invite 4x4wire ,keystones ,creepers ,poorboys and a few of the people that we love to wheel with.

Yeah, I'm totally cool with that. I just think you can't count on anything significant being planned by 4x4Wire anymore.

Remember that Fall Color's was based on doing some mild wheeling and seeing some nice scenery during the colorful change of nature in the Fall. I don't think going to Rausch Creek is going to live up to the original name. It has awesome wheeling and all, but the scenery leaves alot to be desired except for the drive up 81 through the "mountains"

TURNER

true, but RC has all levels and in the interest of making it a large event with as many folks as possible, i think RC would be better

those that tow thier trash to trails are spending a lot of money when they go wheeling and IMO should have trails for them as well as the stockers, and TBH i dont really care about the scenery

i agree with kajo on this one. fall colors was original designed for laid back riding in the woods with the changing of seasons. i don't remember much of the scenary up at RC but maybe eric can give his opinion since near RC/PAP.

What's with all this wheeling talk?

I remember when the good ole days when TTORA-VA was all about just going in the woods and drinking.

When did you guys get all hardcore? :flipoff2:

Was at the dealer tonight looking at tow rigs and the trailer is just going on the credit card real soon. Now i just need to buy a garge with a place to sleep and eat attached. I starting to think that my life is controlled by my toys.

I just realized that most people on this board were not around for the first fall colors run.

RC and PAP have ok scenery in the fall. Its not great but its cool i guess. Its better in fall though as most places would be... I've never wheeled anywhere else legal though. Heck up until 2 years ago I would have never paid to wheel.

The Maryland Creepers also have a Fall run. Last year it was Halloween weekend at RC. It was was extremely foggy the entire weekend, made for some interesting wheeling

This years will also be in Oct, tentatively at RC.
Maybe they could be combined.

and far as the "original purpose" of fall colors, i realize that it was intended for seeing the scenery of the season (which is why the word "colors" is in the name) but for those that were at the 4R jambo this year, eventhough that had the word jamboree in the title, that was the shittiest jamboree ive ever seen, good times nonetheless, but hardly worthy of being called a jamboree

if i wanna see the shennandoah valley in the fall (which is beautiful that time of year) ill get in the wife's corolla and go up to skyline drive, if im gonna drive my truck somewhere, there better be some fun shit waitin for me

Good Point. I have to agree there. I think tha came down to not being organized as well as it was in the past. Hopefully, if they continue, they will get better in the future.

I beleive PoorBoys will be going to RC on the weekend of the 14th for our October trip

that'll be cool

as far as this year 4R jambo was concerned, i had a blast, i dont mind small events at all, the takeover was a clusterfuck (eventhough it was well organized) in my limited experience in this sport, ive noticed that more folks tend to come out when the event has a name, it makes the event sound more open to all levels where as if someone with a more built up rig (kajo, fireman, armored) try and plan an event, it might deter some of the stockers and the same happens when a more stock truck does the same

Maybe I should plan stuff then. I sort of have a "built up stocker". :D

Being a trailguide for KK I've noticed when I post up about a run mostly guys that want to run hard stuff show up. When others post up its different. The big events that do have names tend to get alot more people out.

Takeover was well a cluster friday. Sat. went much better. Sunday well most people left. Scott(fishbone) i think was getting married the following weekend so he probly had alot going on while trying to set everything up. Overall it was a good event. GOod times was had at that one

It's not that i didn't have fun at EC4RJ. It was disapointing that the people that usally come didn't or didn't know about it. It was hard to even find the post on 4x4wire. It was not what it had been in years past. I was just hoping that we could take these events over and bring them back to there former glory.

believe me, im in no way, shape, or from bashing the takeover, IMO it was about as well organized as an event w/ 90 trucks can be, its just a fact of life that when that many folks come out for one even, wheeling or otherwise, theres gonna be a small amount of clusterfuckedness involved
