I'm runnin 33" BFG All Terrains and I'm very pleased with them. My cheapest price was BJ's...

I voted for "other" cause I haven't talked to anybody that has either of your choices who actually liked them. They are both pretty good for slick rock and pavement, but that's about it; decent tires for East Coast commuting, but not East Coast four wheeling.

Go with BFG M/T or Goodyear MT/R.

If you like the look of directional tread, check out Yokohama Geolander M/Ts. I've heard pretty good things about them, and they're (relatively) cheap. I had an old ass set of Yokohama Super Diggers and they were great tires.

I really like my Firestone Destination m/t's. I drive 99.999% on pavement and they are pretty darn good. Not too loud and really good tread life so far. For the .001% I am off-road I couldn't be happier. They grip rocks nicely and clean mud well enough for my green and blue trails.

MTR's if you can get them to run right.

i hate to say it but i choose BFG MT over GY MTR if it's a daily driver rig. MTR don't clean well for the mud or snow, the wet weather handling could be better, and balancing can be an issue on steel wheels. IMHO, the BFG MT just performs a little better than the MTR in all aspects except side wall thickness.

MT claws and PC XT are great looking tires. drive ok on the street from what i hear but definitely would recommend a different tire if you plan on going off road.

For a DD i'd run the Firestone MT's. I have them on my 4runner and they are no where near as loud as the BFG MT's on my taco. They also have balanced better. As for offroad, I'd say the BFG's are a tab bit better. However, both have thin soft sidewalls.

I liked my trxus MTs better than my MTRs. Baja claws well I never heard anything good about them. I know several people that have run Procomp X-terrains and liked them alot in everything but mud. Also the Procomp MT's I've heard good things about from the few that have them.

I b eleive Allen Dickenson runs the Super Swamper SSR Radials on his 4Runner. He has been to every EC4RJ and drives his runner from North Carolina to the event with them on his rig. He always seems to handle the trails well with them.

I am running 37" unbalanced Bias Ply IROK's on my 4Runner now. We will see how long they last. I have about 600 road miles on them now and they are still lookin' good. They also are running smooth on the road for that size of tire.

I had 35" BFG MT's on my old runner and they were awesome on the road and never had any issues except for deep mud off-road. If the IROK's don't do well on the road, I will by a set of 37" BFG's

FWIW, I run the TSL radials on the 4runner. They're decent on road, better than I expected. But it's not a DD either.

Allen has just regular 33x12.50 TSL Radials, just like my 32"s and Broderick's 36"s. The TSL Radials are pretty good tires. I have over three years on mine, with a spooled rear end, and they still have at least 1/3 of the tread left. They are more damaged from the trails than they are from road driving (but it isn't a daily driver).

I've heard stories about the SSR radials not lasting very long, and if I remember correctly they are a quite a bit heavier and stiffer than the regular TSL Radials.

One word of caution about the regular TSL Radials: the 31x9.50s, the 33x10.50s and the 33x12.50s have a weird center tread pattern that is continuous around the whole circumference of the tire. I would steer clear of those three sizes.

I ran the 37x13.5 claw radials on a previous vehicle and I can say for a tire of its size and tread design they wore very well I got what I thought was excellent traction and cleaning ability. They used very little weights when I first balanced them and stayed evenly balanced. The last time I balanced them they all balanced between 5.75 and 6.25, From putting on trux's and swampers in the past those are good numbers for a tire of that size.

niether, i havnet ever heard anything good about the baja claws and IMHO bfg's are over priced, plus the sidewalls are thin. go with some type of super swamper if you plan on wheelin your shit. despite what others (myself included) say about the ride quality and the speed at which they wear, lots of folks have em on their DD and they do just fine. just keep em balanced and rotated and get a radial. im sure all of this has already been said but i i didnt feel like reading the whole thread
