So my oil guzzling Runner just went through emissions w/a hollowed out cat (had to gut it as the oil clogged it up to the point it would kill the engine).
So is the testing a joke or what ?
Not that I'm against clean air, just didn't want to spend $100 on a new one if I didn't have to. If it had failed I'd have gotten one.
It's a joke. With the computer test on the 96+ models, all you have to do is clear the engine code as you drive up. I've done that before when a tree branch tore the post-cat o2 sensor wire. No treadmill test on 35s :D
Plus the people working there aren't exactly the most astute.

What the hell does astute mean? Im quessing since you used to live in sykesville your talking about the people at the testing center in westminster? When i had my 2002 sentra and went thier, i had a 2 1/2 exhaust with a 4 1/2 tip on my car, and all they did was rev it up the hole time. Then my brother went and they had to measure his truck to see if it would go over the rollers, i think it cleared by 1/2 an inch. Next time he goes its not gonna go over them though. Here they are (http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?bg=FFFFFF&image=http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/6/web/618000-618999/618600_19_full.jpg)

Nope, I always went to the one in Owings Mills/New Town area. I lived right by the Rt. 26 bridge going into Balto/Carroll County so it was a lot closer.

Hate to bring the thread back on topic.
But I was thinking (yeah, I know what someone's going to say), if a worn oil spewing carbed 4 cyl w/no converter will pass, how about a carbed Buick 3.8/TH350 w/dual converters ?
