Nice Toy! That's exactly the welder that's been on myto-buy list. Someone convinced me last week to go to 220V and get the Handler 180.
Ahh, one of these days...
If you're looking for some practice, you can try welding on my sliders. Yes, they're still not on...

Yeah, the 180 is better, but it's a couple hundred $$ more. Also, I don't have 220V in my garage and I don't feel like burying cable to run it out there. Eventually I'm gonna build a big extension cord though, because I have a 220V Hobart Stickmate that Jenn bought me several years ago. I'd still like to be able to use it for some things.

I took the arc welding class, but I had to drop it mid-semester 'cause of damn work interfering with fun. I might try to take a MIG class in the fall.

First things first, I have to start and finish my SAS. Well, it's started; Ted welded my spring and shackle hangers for me a few weeks ago. Now I need to start cutting shit off and bolting on the new stuff.

Then I'm gonna build some sliders, and eventually a new bed/cage/roll bar type thing.

Some pics of my first project; Hi-Lift mount. I didn't take any close-up shots of the booger welds, but they are ugly.

The jack's suspended and the only thing around that's clean is the wlelder. That tells me you're doing things right! (at the very least)
Good Job Jason!

Did you clean the metal? The only way to get a good weld with MIG is to have a very clean surface

Yep, I ground off the rust and paint before I started.
I'm playing around with the flux core wire that came with the welder until I get a feel for using a wire feed. I'm gonna set up the gas and solid wire later on and then play around with it.

My welds are still sucky, but wire feed is much easier than stick welding.
