Sweet! Have you been to the house yet? Did you get the 'good' view?
they offered me a house with a decent view and no backyard. :( It had a Lanai which is hawaiian for Porch.
I looked at a house today in Honolulu. . 3 bedroom, 2 bath, decent back yardThe view from the living room is pearl harbor and the airport in the distance and the main city of honolulu in the forground. It also has a 2 car garage. it is about 3 miles from work and is ONLY $2000 a month which is $500 less than what the Army is gonna pay me for housing.
onday I will find out if I get it.
Oh yeah, went to a met and greet today with the Damn Kid off road club. The hawaiian rc club was there in person with the vehicles in the link.

$2k a month for a house?? I thought $2k would get you a large cardboard box in an alley. And you still have $500 a month for truck parts!

Huh? WTH are you talking about Donkey?
Here I am Saturday morning, the 4 Runner was on the island for les than 24 hours. I am going wheelin' on Sunday. It may be very muddy since the entire state is under a flood watch.

didja run a center bar down the windshield? I can't remember if you said VA would or would not allow it when you were building for Hawaii...

Once I get all my tools I plan on adding a bolt on upside down V for the windshield.

soundds like a good idea...gettin ready to start on mine soon..
I got the house with the two car garage :D I was expecting no garage so I am very happy
the house is smaller than my old house, so we are going to have to put some stuff in storage but we have a place for the kids and dogs to play and it is about 2.5 miles from house to office 8) Houses here are not built to the same standards as they are in the mainland. We have no AC but there are places for window units in the living room and master bedroom if we decide we need to have AC.
I will take some pics of the house and the view from the living room tomorrow or thursday.

Good to hear your adapting to such a harsh island living. Climbed and coconut trees yet? I bet Ace would have by now.

That's just too cool, first day on the island and it's on the ramp. 8) I heard they had a dam break because of all the rain, didn't know they had any dams in Hawaii. I was thinking it might have been a drinking water reservoir but didn't hear anything about a water shortage.
Armored - no coconut tree climbing yet but I do have three grape fruit trees in my backyard that the kids have been climbing on.
The dam is on the island of Kuai. That island is getting hammered pretty hard. The dam is a reservoir for irrigation on that island to the best of my knowledge and not for drinking. We are in a severe flood watch until Thursday.

Kaui does record the most rainfall every year in the world. THey average 245" of rain yearly. I think the average is going to be a little higher after this year.
