Just for the hell of it, I was surfing for mountain property in VA. (Maybe I'll buy some when I win the lottery). Anyway, I came across this property (http://www.unitedcountry.com/ucforms/uconline/uconline/SearchNS/seemorepictures.asp?SID=26083884). It's 4,800 acres for $4.8 million. Who wants to chip in?

Whats the going rate for 5 acres of backwoods land, if one wanted to build a cabin for privacy...
The off road park idea is better left to leased land, but I sure wouldn't mind half a dozen acres in the middle of nowhere for a cabin myself.
If the owner will break it up or you find something else please keep me in the loop.

I actually contacted some folks last year who were leasing out forestry and mining land. It never came to specifics, as they really wanted to lease out to hunt clubs and the sort; something very low impact to the area. Overall though, the lease rates were not too bad. They already own the land, but don't have intentions of using it anytime soon. If they can make a profit on the land after property taxes and have no liability, they seemed to be interested.

That's weird, I never wrote what you quoted above, but somehow it was in my post. Weird.

Rockbridge county...Not that it matters for 5 MIL. I did a mortgage calculator so anyone with a spare $35,000 a month for 30 years :smt103 should jump on it.

I (my family) just bought 30+ acres in Buchannon, WV with a nice house and a barn along with 6 other outbuildings for 98,000.

For some reason my original link is dead.

I found it using this site (http://www.unitedcountry.com/ucforms/uconline/uconline/searchns/Search_Other_Criteria.Asp?SID=26158215), which I got to through this site. (http://www.virginia-real-estate.net/)

Maybe we can buy 1 acre a year, for the next 4,800 years. We will have to choose wisely.
