 i dont understand why you new guys feel the need to start pissing matches with me.
the post was on topic, it was so on topic in fact that randy agreed with me, how come you didnt say anything to him? i told you to sell it cause snorkels are stupid and worthless and yer on here trying to figure out how to make it work and going through all this trouble for a worthless part. in 4 years yer gonna look back and say "you know, ive never even seen water on the trail so deep that id need a snorkel to get through, i wonder why i even wasted my time?" ill tell you why: cause yer a fuckin idiot, who, instead of listening to me decided to make a jack ass comment in response to my post. eventually you'll realize (like everyone does) that you should've taken your head out of your ass and listened to me instead of tryin to be the cool guy and startin shit with turner
i was trying to save you a lot of headache and wasted time/money that you could've spent on something that would actually make your rig more capable since, last time i checked, it says "SAFARI snorkel" on the side of those things since we dont live in fucking africa, i doubt you'll be on a safari anytime soon. but since you wanna be a cool guy instead listening to me, i wont help anymore
one more thing smartest guy on earth:
you realize that a snorkel alone WILL NOT waterproof your rig and there are several, thats right SEVERAL, other places that need to be addressed before you can sink your rig during your next safari through fairfax, if you'd like help on diff breathers lemme know, ill tell you to sell your diffs too asshole
Hey Cheesedick, there are better benefits of a snorkle than just water crossings.
Better Air induction, Cleaner Air (those of us that have been behind frank's old 4runner engine know what I am talking about, and the Bling-Bling factor :flipoff2:)
Also, even with water crossings, sucking water into the engine is the biggest hazard of them all and the snorkle somewhat addresses it. Sure there are many other aspects to address before I go bobbing down the river, but if the front of my truck drops face first into a water-hole that is deeper than I expected, it's a nice added bonus.
I remember a post on the old board of someone bitching about useless comments in a thread about a certain roll cage.

look at it this way turner, when norfolk floods he's be all set. you right, it's just a bling factor and since he got it, might as well as install it. it's just like will's and mike's rig, snorkel for breathing but not completely waterproof.

yer right, cause i was asking if anyone thought it was worth the $$$, an neither of your reply's answered that question, i was simply tryin to help the guy out by telling him that all the BS he's goin through isnt worthit. air induction? is that what this forum is comming to? who the fuck cares about air induction? how in the fuck does that help when your off road? we dont drive honda's, we drive toyota trucks. and honestly, cold air into the motor gives what, 3 hp at the wheel if yer lucky? why even bother
and BTW, i talked to will last night and even said snorkels are stupid, and he has one, he said, and i quote "there is no way in hell id ever pay for one, the only reason i have mine is cause it was free"

Turner I wasn't trying to start a pissing match with you it just seems that your post was stupid. If you read what i first post you will see I wrote " put a snorkel today", so unless you think I used a bunch of 3M tape that means there is an 83MM hole and a few other 16MM ones too. So I think I am going to leave it on my truck instead of selling it for half the price(wasting more money), and driving around like a jackass with holes in the fender. Then again I could buy a new fender and have it painted, yet again wasting money.
2)
Just like Cronus added, there are more reasons than just water(which happens to be the biggest) to get a snorkel.
3)
Glad to know that you follow me everytime I go wheeling so that you know how deep every water crossing is. Maybe you should share you cammo paint with the military since I have never seen you once ANYTIME I have ever gone wheeling.
3)
The post was about a snorkel, not waterproofing my whole truck. Since you wanted to open that one up I get the feeling you want me to know that I nee to raise the breathers on the front and rear diff, trans, and do something with the electronics, won't be a bad idea to pull the carpet and try to seal the floor although it might be in vain.
4)
I don't live in Fairfax and don't go wheeling there, guess again. Heres a tip its under my main in my post.
Finally maybe people wouldn't flip out on you if you would stop acting like a FUCKING ASSHOLE everytime someone has a question and gave them the info they were looking for instead of just trying to make yourself look cool on the net and boost your post count.

If you read the post, you would have known it was already on the truck.
And replacing a power antenna with a non-power antenna is hardly BS.
I paid 215.00 for my snorkle when it first came out. I already had a bunch of ARB shit on the truck so why not add something else? It was new, it was shiny, and I wanted one :flipoff2:
In retrospect, I wish I never put it on, but I already had the holes drilled so I might as well leave it on.
Anyway, it's his fawking truck and his money, let im piss it away how he wants, instead of razzing him about something that is too late to fix.

I hope you never hydro lock your engine. When I installed my snorkel I found a good bit of muddy residue in the intake tube. The Tacoma’s suck air in just behind the plastic covering in the wheel well and it does not take much to get water or mud in the intake. I also believe that two or more people on the VA board that hydro locked their engine and a snorkel could have prevented the damage. 200 dollars is cheap insurance to save a 3k+ engine.
Exactly.
Best Insurance there is against Hydrolocking.

I was wondering how a thread called "Power Antenna to Non-power Antenna?" could get so long, so I clicked on it and I saw that Turner had gotten involved. Now it's all clear to me.
My vote to solve the problem is to just grab a relatively cheap antenna from a parts store or Mall-Wart. I don't ever actually use my radio though, only my CD player, so I would be just fine with a shitty antenna.

if you thought my post was stupid, fine, say so, but dont come on here tellin me to shut the hell up, you threw the first stone in this one bro, not me
you never see me when you go wheelin cause you dont wheel, you talk about it on here
as far as the waterproofing comment, again i was just tryin to help, to share info, ,thats what were here for right?
your exact location is not the point, wherever it is there arent any safaris goin on there
and finally as i said before, you threw the first stone, my assholish rant was only in response to you tellin me to shut the hell up. besides that the only other time ive been an asshole recently was is the fall colors thread and thats only because eventhough im the event coordinater, there seems to be a group of new guys on here who think they can do a better job than me, and decided to question and take issue with the way i was setting up the event, i didnt appreciate that at all. i was voted, thats right, voted in as the event coordinater, that means that there were a bunch of people who thought id do a good job. if all you guys were around then maybe i wouldnt have won, but i did, so let me handle it. im not tryin to be cool, TBH ive made some friends from this club who are friends of mine outside the BBS, i dont need to try a be cool, i dont care what my post count is, it just so happens that i like to run my mouth (if you would attend an event you'd know that)

Funny you say that I don't go wheeling, I guess the only wheeling that counts has to be on a TTORA run in which you attend.

no not at all, but i figure if yer gonna take the time to be part a club, and participate on the message board, that you'd make an effort to go on club sanctioned trail rides. its kinda that one friend that we all have who talks about how much he gets laid but whenever anyone is actually there to witness him takin some chick home, he comes up empty, you wanna believe that he does indeed get some ass when no one is around, but after a while it just gets hard to swallow as the BS, see what i mean? you cant sit on here and tell everyone you wheel with other clubs/groups but you never come out with us, saying "oh so just cause i dont wheel with TTORA means i dont wheel" is bullshit, then why did you join? i know i joined this club to find people to wheel with, if i already knew folks to wheel with, i would have no need for this place, understand?
im done with you, topic is locked
