Today my cousin wrecked her '99 4 Runner. She hit something on the road and flipped it two or three times. The body is completely fucked, but the engine and drive train appeared to be in good condition still. I am wondering if its possible (or worth the trouble) to put the engine into a '97 Tacoma and what parts might be compatible with it (rack and pinion steering, air conditioning, anything that might work). Also, I would like to know if there is anything worth selling that wasn't damaged (airbags, receiver hitch, windows, rims...)

From the first pic, the rack is looking screwed because of the tire kinda flopping around on the passenger side. I dont know how compadable everything is, if its an auto and your truck is a manual and all crap like that. The insurance company isnt taking the truck??? ^^^^ yea is your cousin ok? That runner looks pretty nasty, you dont think its a little early to be worrying about the vehicle seeing as how the wreck just happened?

Yea, I hope she is okay. That looks like it was hit pretty hard.

My cousin is fine, she only had two small cuts and a scratch. Apparently she was going around 45 mph on a back road and drifted off the road a few inches and hit something in the ditch. The front right side rim busted in half and and she rolled into a barbed wire fence. I have not heard what the insurance company has decided yet.

She must have hit something pretty hard to crack the rim in half but anyway I think being that it is a 99 I think the insurance company will definately total that and cut you a check for what they think it is worth, at least that is what they did with me I just went through all of that. But good luck with it anyway.

Ok, the insurance company payed my aunt a lot of money for the 4 Runner. Lets just say it was enough to buy my cousin another one. She is getting it tomorrow. So, now that thats all taken care of, do any of you guys think its worth the trouble to buy it back (don't know that price yet) and swap out the engine in my truck? Or if it will even fit?
