I FINALLY got this done. Read last post if interested.
Okay, I'm due for new plugs. I bought a set that was spec'ed and bought from a local parts store and was about to install them but saw there's a sticker right on the engine shroud that specifies I need to use dual-electrode plugs. The ones I got from the parts store were the standard single-electrode plugs. I returned them and asked them about the dual electrode spec on the engine sticker. They looked at me like I was stupid; had no idea what I was talking about. I KNOW what a dual electrode plug is, and what it looks like. I've since gone to several parts stores, and told them what I need and they always hand me some single electrode Bosch or AC/Delco-crap plugs. Can anyone give me a part number on what to ask for at a regular parts store without me making a trek to Bap Geon or spending way too much at the Stealership? I'm so used to working on domestics that I never thought there'd be a problem buying spark plugs of all things for my Tacoma. Thanks, Kyle

Well first of all DON'T put any of the domestic crap in your truck, if anything go with NGK, that is usually what Toyota and Lexus put in them just wrapped in a pretty red box that says toyota all over it but when it comes down to it they are NGK. The dual electrode is pretty much like the split-fire plugs from bosch.
Umm... not sure of a part number but I will look into it, if you don't find out before me. I know if you go to Advance Auto if you have one down there, they can pull it up by your truck and just tell them you want NGK's. They shouldn't have a problem reading a screen but..... then again you never know. But good luck, I willtry and get back to you with a part number if I can.

I've run denso plugs from the dealer without any problems. Check out www.sparkplugs.com. They sell NGK and Denso plugs.

None of the parts stores I've gone to have had either NKG or Denso (in stock,) but did have them listed. All they had were AC/Delco and Bosch. I'm down here in "good 'ole boy" southern VA, where I think I'm the only one in the world working on an "import." Oh, and speaking of parts issues, the rear brake shoes changed in 2002.5, and NO ONE except the dealer has the right ones, Advance, Auto Zone, Napa, and Car Quest all do not have the new ones either in their systems nor on their shelves. The holes are cut differently and the old ones are missing a stud that the newer ones have. That little issue cost me half a day of driving around to various parts stores. Sorry for the rant. Thanks for the input Armored. Kyle
